Fun Fancy
It is hard to believe that it has been three weeks since I wrote about Fancy. She has definitely been very busy during that time!
On May 17th she began an obedience basics class with Dana Cooper of Woofer's Canine Companion and she has done really well in spite of the fact that we haven't worked as hard on our "homework" as we would have if she were the only one here. We will keep working on what we have learned and happily turn her obedience file over to her new family when they come for her. We expect her to graduate this Thursday!!
Fancy is a joy for us. She is busy and curious and can get into puppy trouble, but she is also so fun and loving and smart. I has been a pleasure to watch her grow!

BGOC

Now that Fancy is housebroken, she is enjoying some more freedom in the house with Luci and the cats. She chases and catches the cats, who are not terribly afraid of her and often don't run away in the first place, but these are very dog-tolerant cats. We are working on this with her, but I imagine most homes with cats will not feel comfortable with Fancy's level of interest. On the other hand, Fancy gets along great with ALL of the other dogs, even the prickly Luci. However she is a Very Smart Puppy and needs lots of supervision to keep her from getting into "trouble" (like stealing hand towels-- her favorite!).
Fancy got to go to Doggy Play Day at Taurus Training again last Thursday and will go again on Monday. So important to keep a smart, active girl busy!

Wild Two Weeks!
Wow... Fancy has had SUCH a busy two weeks! She is over the housebreaking hump now that she is over the steroids and she is catching on quickly to home and family life. She obviously still needs lots of training, but her progress in this short time is incredible. And what a lovey dog-- so feisty and yet so cuddly. A doll for sure.We finally got a chance to give her a good bath and the full Spa Treatment last week. She tolerated her ears and teeth cleaned, eyes wiped, and nails trimmed along with the full bath, shampoo, conditioner, and even high-powered blow dry. Yay Fancy!! And what a pretty girl.
By last Friday she was over her cold and able to be spayed. She was a little sleepy that night when she came home, but by the next morning she was back to her normal self.
Saturday she went to her first ever Meet & Greet even with some of the other Forgotten Friends dogs, and she was wonderful: friendly, outgoing, playful, & cuddly. So many people stopped to see her because of her beautiful looks and then found themselves charmed by her sweet personality. Her friends Darla and Sully went to new homes that day, but before she could have a chance to miss them little Buttercup and shy Ginger arrived!
On Tuesday Fancy went to Taurus Training for Doggy PlayDay and had a lot of fun. Here is her report card from the great Taurus staff!
Then, on Thursday evening, Fancy went to a home visit with one of the families who had met her at the Meet & Greet along with one of the other dogs (Blueberry) so that they could see which dog would be a better match for them. In the end, they decided on Blueberry, so Fancy is back with us.
This week we plan to work on having Fancy out and about in the house more and to work on her cat socialization. And she will get her sutures out Monday, and probably get to go to PlayDay at Taurus one day too. So another busy week for this sweetie.

Welcome Fancy!

Well... what can I say?! There is no defense, really. I saw this beautiful girl when her foster mom brought her to the vet on Tuesday while I was picking up Darla & Sully after their surgeries and dropping off Cupcake. I knew we didn't technically have room for her at our Foster Home... but I also know a great dog when I see one! I looked into her face and said "Yes!".Fancy is such a darling girl. So beautiful, so sweet. She had an upper respiratory infection this week that required steroids and antibiotics, so she had to sit out the Meet & Greet today AND she has had a struggle getting going on housebreaking due to the steroid. Nonetheless, she has won over every two and four legged creature in this house with her sweet nature and lovely hugs. I was really missing dear Coco, but I think that Fancy is going to fill the slot quite nicely. I am really looking forward to updating her progress on here.
